Privacy policy

Your data is yours.

Effective October 26, 2026. This covers Offgrid and this website. Each app we release gets its own section here, saying exactly what it does with your data.

Offgrid

Offgrid doesn't collect, store, sell or share any of your information. It has no accounts and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code, and it doesn't connect to any server, ours or anyone else's.

What you enter (notes, tasks, supplies, messages, settings) is stored only on your device, protected by your device's own encryption. It is excluded from device and cloud backups. We never see it and have no way to.

Data leaves the app only when you make it:

  • Export. If you choose to export a backup, the app hands a copy to your phone's share sheet, and you decide where it goes.
  • Comms (Offgrid). If you turn Comms on and pair with someone in person, messages, check-ins and shared lists travel directly between phones over Bluetooth, encrypted end to end so only the recipient can read them. Other paired phones may carry a sealed message for you; they can't read it. Nothing goes through the internet.

Permissions

  • Bluetooth, only when you turn Comms on, to reach paired phones nearby. On Android 11 and older, the system also requires location permission for Bluetooth scanning; Offgrid never reads your location.
  • Camera, only when you open the pairing scanner. Codes are read on the phone and no images are kept.
  • Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint, only if you turn on App Lock. The check happens in your phone's operating system; the app never sees your biometrics.

Deleting your data

Delete the app, or use "Erase everything" in its settings, and your data is gone. There is no copy anywhere else.

Children

Because we collect no information from anyone, we collect none from children.

This website

This site sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from third parties. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles the network traffic needed to deliver the pages and protect them from attacks; that means Cloudflare briefly processes your IP address, as any web host does. We don't turn on visitor analytics and don't receive information about visitors.
